Fastsail is an association of high performance dinghies with single trapezes and symmetrical spinnakers.

The current members are the 470, 505, Fireball, Flying Dutchman, Hornet, Osprey & Javelin Classes. Their representatives act as a communication channel between the classes to promote the classes at the RYA Dinghy Show each year and organized combined events.

The Symmetric Grand Prix (SGP) is organised by Fastsail each year. It is a large handicap race with sponsored prizes. The emphasis of the SGP is on fun and participation by sailors of all ages and ability. Normally 6 races are sailed over a weekend with a mixture of pursuit and handicap races and a wide range of prizes with the majority going to those who would not normally win a prize.

Anybody interested in high performance dinghy racing is welcome to register on this website and participate in the lively discussions. Anybody who sails or would like to sail a Fastsail Class can use the Forum and Chat box to discuss topics of interest, find helms/crews or boats to sail. You are encouraged to look at our members’ websites and join our members’ class associations.

The SGP 2007 is open to all paid up members of the Fastsail classes, and the Tempest, Laser II and 420 classes.

Entries can be made on the day. Entry fee will be £30.00.

Registration will be held in the Wet Bar from 09:00 on Saturday 22nd September 2007 and there will be a competitor briefing at 11:00 on Saturday in the Wet Bar

3 back to back races are scheduled for Saturday with the first race Warning at 12:00. 3 back to back races are scheduled for Sunday with the first race Warning at 10:30.
